A simple sneaky prompt to make AI sound human
So obvious you won't believe it works
One of the most common complaints about AI-generated content…
Is that it sounds like AI-generated content.
Usually, this is because people are using bad prompts and/or aren’t given the AI enough context and examples of the output they want.
But even if you start with a bad prompt, there is a simple, one-line prompt you can use to improve the output you’re getting.
It is so obvious it’s hard to believe it works.
Thanks for reading.

Today’s Tip
To show you how this works, I need to start with a bad prompt in ChatGPT:
Write a facebook ad for my dog walking service
This is a bad prompt because we give little information about our service, audience, the call to action, our desired style/voice, and no examples.
The output is bland, though passable:

Here’s the one-line prompt that can improve this output:
now make it sound like it was written by a human
This simple instruction won’t turn this into amazing copy, but it does improve what we get:

This copy feels more relaxed and has more emotion.
We can continue iterating, and the clearer we specify the output we want, the better its responses will be.
For example, you can ask it:
add humor - think pet puns, but without going overboard
Which gave me this:

Simple ways to get better results.
Your Turn
Try this for yourself the next time you ask AI to write a draft.
Here are a few ideas you can use.
Ask it to sound more:
human
funny
relaxed
happy
excited
upbeat
silly
You can also tell it to avoid jargon and to avoid sounding like it was written by AI.
Here’s an example prompt combining some of these ideas:
Write in a relaxed, humorous style that sounds like a friend writing to a friend, and avoids phrases and words that are commonly found in AI-generated writing.
Try these tips and let me know how it works for you!
Btw, giving ChatGPT that last prompt resulted in this updated FB ad for our dog-walker:
